Samantha Hartley Wins Black History Month Art Competition
In Literacy last term we were looking at the work of Maya Angelou and one of her poems called ‘Caged Bird’. We looked at this to celebrate Black History Month.
We studied the meaning of the poem and created a piece of artwork in response to it. The artwork was entered into a competition run by UNISON and Samantha Hartley was one of the winners. As a school we were awarded £250 of vouchers.
Executive Headteacher, Ms Brown said: “Samantha’s work was very individual and personal, and she won a £50 WHSmith’s vouchers as a result. I am very proud of Sam and how hard she worked on this piece.”
Well done Sam!
